Terms of Service

The agreement between you and MyTickets, whichever side of a ticket you are on.

Everyone · 7 min read · Version 1.0, effective 29 August 2026

1.Agreement to these terms

These terms govern your use of MyTickets — the website at mytickets.africa, our apps, and everything we do on either. By buying a ticket, listing an event, or simply browsing, you agree to them.

Some parts apply only to buyers and some only to organisers. Where that is the case it says so.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform.

2.Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to buy a ticket or to list an event. If you are under 18, someone with parental responsibility must make the purchase for you.

Individual events may set their own age restrictions. Those are the organiser's rules, they are shown on the event page, and the gate enforces them.

3.What MyTickets is, and is not

MyTickets is a ticketing platform. Organisers list their own events, set their own prices and their own terms, and run the event itself. We provide the shop, the payment rails, the ticket and the gate.

We are not the event. We do not run it, we do not own the venue, and we are not the promoter. Your contract for attending an event is with its organiser. This matters most when something goes wrong: a cancellation, a change of line-up or a change of date is the organiser's, and so is the refund that follows it.

Where we can help, we do — we hold the record of what was sold and to whom, and we move the money.

4.Your details

You do not need an account to buy a ticket. You give a phone number and, if you want the ticket by email as well, an address. That phone number is how your tickets are found again, so give one you can actually receive messages on.

Organisers have accounts. If you run one, keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think somebody else has it. You are responsible for what the people you invite onto your account do with it.

Everything you tell us must be true. A ticket issued against a phone number that is not yours is a ticket you may not be able to recover.

5.Buying tickets

Prices are in Kenyan Shillings. What you see at checkout is what you pay, including any fee, and the page says who that fee falls on before you confirm.

Payment is by M-PESA or card. A ticket exists once payment settles — not when the checkout starts. If a payment fails or times out, no ticket is issued and no money is kept.

Ticket availability is live and limited. Adding tickets to a checkout does not hold them, and an event can sell out while you are paying. If that happens the payment is reversed.

6.Your ticket

Every ticket carries a signed code and a QR image, and admits one person once. If you bought several, each person needs their own.

Tickets arrive by SMS and, where you gave an address, by email. They can also be retrieved at any time from the Find my tickets page using the phone number you bought with.

Screenshots work. So does the short code, read out at the gate, if a scanner cannot see the QR.

A ticket that has already been admitted will not admit anybody a second time. Treat your code the way you would treat cash: anybody holding it can use it.

7.Complimentary tickets

An organiser can issue tickets that nobody paid for — a guest list, press, artists' guests. They scan exactly like any other ticket, and these terms apply to them in the same way.

Because no money changed hands, there is nothing to refund on a complimentary ticket. Its terms are between you and the organiser who gave it to you.

8.Refunds, cancellations and changes

The Refund Policy sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.

In short: tickets are generally not refundable because you changed your mind, and are refundable when an event is cancelled. An organiser may offer more than that; they cannot offer less than the law requires.

9.Resale and transfer

You may give a ticket to somebody else — send them the code and it will admit them.

You may not resell a ticket above the price you paid for it, and you may not sell tickets in bulk for profit. Where an organiser prohibits resale altogether, the event page says so and we will honour it.

We can cancel tickets we believe were bought to resell, or bought fraudulently, and refund them to the original payment method.

10.At the event

The organiser and the venue set the rules of entry: search, prohibited items, dress, age. Follow them, or you may be refused entry with no refund.

Events carry risk — crowds, noise, weather, standing, the dark. You attend at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and belongings.

The organiser or venue may refuse entry to, or remove, anybody behaving in a way that endangers or seriously disrupts other people.

11.If you list an event

The Organiser Agreement covers this in full and forms part of these terms. It is the document that says what you owe your buyers and what we owe you.

By listing an event you confirm you have the right to run it, that what you have told buyers is accurate, and that you will honour every ticket you sell.

12.Acceptable use

Do not use MyTickets to:

  • list an event you have no right to run, or that does not exist
  • sell anything illegal, or anything that is not admission to an event
  • buy tickets by automated means, or in bulk to resell
  • interfere with the platform, its security, or anybody else's use of it
  • misrepresent who you are, or impersonate anybody else

We may suspend or remove any account or event that breaks these rules, and we may take an event off sale while we look into a complaint.

13.Content and intellectual property

The platform, its software and its branding are ours. Nothing here gives you a licence to copy them.

What organisers upload — posters, descriptions, logos — stays theirs. By uploading it they give us permission to show it, and to use it to promote their event on the platform and on our own channels.

We may remove content that is unlawful, infringing, or misleading about what a buyer is paying for.

14.Availability

We work to keep MyTickets running, particularly on a door at 9pm. We cannot promise it is never unavailable — networks fail, payment providers fail, and maintenance happens.

Gate scanning is built to survive a bad connection. If it cannot, an organiser can still admit somebody by their code.

15.Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

Subject to that: we are not liable for what happens at an event, or for an organiser's failure to deliver one. Our liability to you for anything arising from the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We are not liable for indirect losses — lost profit, lost opportunity, or the cost of a journey to an event that did not happen.

16.Things outside anyone's control

Neither we nor an organiser is liable for a failure caused by something genuinely outside our control: weather, disease, civil unrest, government direction, power or network failure at a national scale.

Where such an event stops an event happening, the Refund Policy says what follows.

17.Suspension and termination

You may stop using MyTickets whenever you like. Tickets you have already bought are unaffected.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to. If we close an organiser's account, money already owed to them is still owed and will be paid out in the ordinary way, less anything owed back to buyers.

18.Disputes

Talk to us first. Most things are a misunderstanding about a payment or a ticket, and most are fixed the same day — write to support@afcon.mytickets.africa.

Where a dispute is really with an organiser, we will put you in touch and share what we hold about your order.

19.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

20.Changes to these terms

We update these terms from time to time. The date and version at the top of this page say when this one took effect, and previous versions are available on request.

A change never applies retrospectively to a ticket you have already bought.
